SOUTH AUSTRALIA
ELEGANT HERITAGE ACCOMMODATION

"Its worth coming all the way to Adelaide just for the experience of staying in one of these out-of-this-world apartments and cottages. Each of the 11 separate properties in North Adelaide and Eastwood are fabulous." Frommers Australia Guide 2001

South Australia has always had a sense of difference about it. You can spot it everywhere you look - such as in the residents' appreciation for the finer things in life like the arts and fine wine. And you can see it in Adelaide's architectural heritage - the stately villas, bungalows and cottages that dot the city and its first suburb, North Adelaide. North Adelaide is part of the City of Adelaide and is surrounded on all sides by the historic City Parklands. The major city hospitals, the Olympic swimming pool, the Adelaide oval and Memorial Tennis Courts and two Golf Courses are all located in exclusive North Adelaide. Some of its finest properties serve as elegant heritage accommodation and include:

Buxton Manor
Right in the heart of residential upper North Adelaide, Buxton Manor was designed and built in 1909. It was originally owned by Sir Josiah Symon, a respected South Australian jurist, parliamentarian and one of the Fathers of the Australian Constitution.

There are four exquisite self-contained heritage lised apartments in the Manor House with one, two or three bedrooms. All are self-contained and children are most welcome. They are furnished with exquisite colonial antiques, marblised and timber fireplaces, heritage bathrooms with original deep baths, Scottish lace and chintz drapes. Quality bed and bath linen are provided for your comfort and convenience. The apartments at Buxton Manor mansion are set on a half acre of well tended grounds which feature a stunning sunken garden, lawns, BBQ area and roses. There is ample off street parking.

Unique Adelaide Cottages
A number of individual hertage listed cottages have been restored in North Adelaide and are now used for heritage accommodation. Travellers wanting a unique private residence will find these cottages very attractive. They are beautifully furnished with antiques, memorabilia and period pieces. The cottages generally include king size spas or claw leg baths.

Fire Station Inn
The Fire Station Inn, circa 1866 which until its present conversion into luxury accommodation was a classic Victorian bluestone two story working Fire Station. Located near cosmopolitan O'Connell Street in North Adelaide it is a very versatile and unique building. Restored into lavish suites - The Residency-Penthouse, The Loggia Courtyard and The Fire Engine with your own 1942 Fire Engine, each with their own marble spa bathrooms. Alternately it can be booked as one complete townhouse of four bedrooms with spa bathrooms.

Friendly Meeting Chapel
Built in 1879 of Adelaide Bluestone, the Chapel is situated on the high street of North Adelaide close to the cafes, restaurants and shopping. It has an opulent, open plan interior with high windows giving a sense of complete privacy, space and quiet. The Chapel's large living space contains the dining, sitting and bedroom with the queen size antique bed hidden by oriental screens and studded with semi precious stones. A magnificent cedar Victorian dining table, Circa 1900, musical organ, chaise lounge, chesterfield settee, brass lamps, a faux marblised deluxe two person spa bathroom and a mahogany kitchen makes the Chapel a unique and very romantic destination.
